Martha Rivers is trained in collaborative divorce and a certified mediator in family court. She is a passionate advocate for individuals and families in the family court system. She is an experienced litigator in South Carolina courts having appeared in South Carolina civil, criminal, family, and magistrate's court for more than twenty years.
Martha became a lawyer to help her community. She relies upon the lessons she learned growing up in a small town to understand the problems of her clients and advocate for them in court. After graduating from Furman University and the University of South Carolina School of Law, Martha clerked in the circuit court system of South Carolina. She then returned to Barnwell County, developing a practice in civil litigation, personal injury, criminal defense, and family law. She developed her knowledge and skills by providing the services her community needed. She is admitted to practice in the state of South Carolina and the United State District Court, District of South Carolina. She is trained as a civil and family court mediator.
Martha has worked for many civic and professional organizations. She now serves on the SC Bar Family Law committee and is active on community boards and organizations, including the Aiken County Bar, the Barnwell County Bar, and SC Women Lawyers Association.
She enjoys her time with her family and church.
